Hands For Hunger is excited to announce the launch of our School Pantry Program in 15 public schools. Hands For Hunger is working in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, school Principals, Guidance Counselors and the National School lunch program to provide extra support for food insecure students. School pantries have been set up in Primary, Jr High & Sr High Schools across New Providence and will assist children whose situations may not qualify them for the National School Lunch Programme, as well as students who may experience occasional and/or acute Hunger.
Food insecurity makes a significant impact on the lives of students. Too many children already deal with the anxiety of living without day-to-day necessities. H4H School Pantries give students the opportunity to devote their energies toward school in a healthy, positive way.
The goal of the program is to develop a sustainable model as a proven way for schools to offer extra assistance to students suffering from food insecurity. This is in perfect keeping with our mandate to create real measurable and long-term improvements in society.
