Hands for Hunger has increased its food rescue and delivery capacity, thanks to the generous donation of a new truck that has already hit the streets to deliver fresh surplus food to those in need.
After nine years on the road rescuing and delivering food, we have retired one of our food rescue trucks and purchased a newer larger model to usher in our 10th year anniversary.

Gregoire Tremblay, a long-time supporter of Hands for Hunger, donated the refrigerated truck just in time for the holiday season.

“Mr Tremblay’s donation is an incredible vote of confidence,” said Zeleka Knowles, Hands for Hunger’s executive director. “It reaffirms our mission to eliminate hunger and food waste in The Bahamas and allows us to start the new year on a positive and productive note.

“Hands for Hunger’s refrigerated trucks are the most valuable resources that we have. Our food rescue and delivery efforts are at the heart of our operation and we rely on the trucks to rescue and deliver over 23,000 meals each month.”

Currently, Hands for Hunger partners with 17 community outreach agencies, and additional organizations that rotate on a monthly basis. H4H’s trucks are on the road six days a week, collecting fresh food from restaurants, grocers, resorts, bakeries and individual donors.

Insurance coverage for the trucks has been generously donated by Summit Insurance Company Ltd and Insurance Management (Bahamas) Ltd. Sun Oil Ltd is a fuel donor.
